UK: Police evacuate Occupy London camp; 20 arrested

British police arrested 20 people when they evacuated the Occupy London tent encampment at St. Paul's Cathedral Monday overnight.
The operation began just after midnight, the BBC reported, after Occupy London was denied permission to appeal against the British High Court decision to allow the camp's eviction.
Officers told activists they had five minutes to gather their tents and leave or else face the penalties for obstructing a court order, according to the Guardian.
The City of London Corporation said it "regretted" its own decision to evict the camp, which the High Court deemed "lawful and justified," according to the BBC.
While most activists complied peacefully with the police operation, a small group did remain in the square unmoved. Police illuminated the square just after midnight in order to approach the activists.
