UN chief Ban appeals for restraint from Egypt leaders in call to ElBardei

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Sunday condemned the upsurge of deadly violence in Egypt and urged all Egyptian leaders to show restraint.
In a phone conversation with Egyptian interim Vice President Mohamed ElBaradei, Ban expressed his concern over the developments in the country and called on the transitional government to "assume full responsibility for the peaceful management of demonstrations," a statement from his office said.
During the call, the UN chief also repeated his previous calls for deposed President Mohammed Morsi to be released from the undisclosed military facility where the army has detained the former Islamist president since his ouster on June 3.
