UN chief condemns rocket attacks, urges calm on both sides

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Sunday condemned rocket fire from Gaza into southern Israel which led to the death of Ashkelon resident Moshe Ami.
"The Secretary-General has been following with deep concern the recent escalation of violence and bloodshed in southern Israel and Gaza," a statement from his spokesperson said. Ban urged maximum Israeli restraint following the killing of a reported ten alleged terrorists, the statement continued.
Ban also urged both parties to "fully respect the calm as brokered by Egypt," the spokesperson continued.
