UN launches inquiry into crimes, labor camps in North Korea

GENEVA - The United Nations on Thursday set up an international commission of inquiry into widespread human rights violations in North Korea, saying some of them "may amount to crimes against humanity."
The 47-member forum adopted unanimously a resolution brought by the European Union and Japan, and backed by the United States, condemning alleged torture and labor camps for political prisoners. It launched a three-member investigation for one year.
