UN renews mandate of envoy to probe abuses in N.Korea

GENEVA - The United Nations voiced deep

concern on Thursday at "grave, widespread and systematic" human
rights violations in North Korea and renewed the mandate of its
special investigator on the situation in the reclusive country.
The 47-member forum adopted a resolution put forward by the
European Union and Japan which also deplored the use of torture
and labor camps against political prisoners. It urged Pyongyang
to allow humanitarian aid including food to reach civilians.
