UNHRC: Israeli action with migrants against int'l law

A petition arrived at the Supreme Court Wednesday morning from several human rights groups citing the UN Human Rights Council's comments that Israel acted against international law in returning African migrants across the southern border back into Sinai, Israel Radio reported.
According to the petition, Israel acted against an international law which said that refugees cannot be "returned," and is committed under international law to maintain such a standard of action.
The document added that in light of recent events in Egypt, Israel must remain committed to not returning asylum seekers in the country, and that those sent back could fall into the hands of abusive, torturous smugglers in Sinai for whom their is evidence of violence against refugees.
