UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Monday called on the Security Council and key countries to do more to stop the bloodshed in Syria.
Speaking at the opening of the UN General Assembly's 70th annual General Debate, Ban said that five countries hold the key to ending the Syrian conflict: Russia, the US, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Turkey.
Ban also briefly spoke of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, saying that amid rising incitement and provocation it was essential to put pressure on the parties to return to the negotiating table.
