Upper Nazareth Mayor Gafsou arraigned in second bribery case

Upper Nazareth Mayor Shimon Gafsou was arraigned on Sunday in the Haifa District Court in a second bribery case against him.
Gafsou’s lawyer Jacob Weinroth denied all of the charges on behalf of Gafsou and promised a more charge by charge response in writing in the near future.
On April 26, Gafsou was sentenced to six months of community service after being convicted for bribery in the first case against him.
The state prosecution has appealed the lenient sentence and the absence of jail time, which could allow him to return to office from his current suspension.
