Security experts from Israel and around the world will gather at Tel Aviv's Intercontinental Hotel next month to discuss ways of keeping urban areas free of crime and terrorism. The Israel Safe City Solutions conference - to be held November 30-December 1 - will be addressed by Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch, former Mossad chief Shabtai Shavit, and Netanya Mayor Miriam Feirburg Ikar, among others. American security experts at the conference will include Chief Michael P. Downing, who commands the Counterterrorism and Criminal Intelligence branch at the Los Angeles Police Department, and Col. (ret.) Kenneth Bouche, former chief intelligence officer from the Illinois State Police. Security officials from South Africa and Australia are also scheduled to take part.
