Uruguay: Fake bomb promoted evacuation of Israeli embassy in Montevideo

Uruguayan security forces said a suspicious electronic device that prompted a bomb scare near the Israeli Embassy in Montevideo on Thursday did not have explosive capabilities.
After the building that houses the Israeli mission was evacuated, Explosives Brigade chief Alfredo Larramendi told local paper El País that the apparatus was apparently planted in order to "measure" police response times and could not have detonated.
