US announces $100 million grant to Hashemite Kingdom

AMMAN — The United States is giving its longtime Jordanian ally an additional $100 million in economic aid to help the poor, youth and underprivileged.
The grant is in addition to the $363 million in regular US economic assistance to Jordan for the fiscal year 2010, bringing the total to $463 million.
It comes as Jordan grapples with spiraling prices on basic commodities and fuel.
A US Embassy statement Wednesday said the money will be used to spur trade, investment, create jobs, and bolster health care and education.
