US Congresswoman, 6 others killed in Arizona shooting

US congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and six others were killed and several others injured after a lone gunman opened fire on a public event she was hosting in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday.
The Democratic member of the US House of Representatives, who just began serving in her third term in congress, was hosting a "Congress on Your Corner" event at a supermarket in the city. The event was designed to give her constituents a forum to approach her with their concerns.
Giffords leaves behind her husband, astronaut Mark Kelly and two children, NPR reported.
