US: Egypt has not met minimum demands of citizens

WASHINGTON— The White House on Wednesday said that Egypt's government has not met what it calls the "minimum threshold" of reforms demanded by its people, and warns that massive protests will continue until changes are made.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs suggests that some Egyptian leaders may have wrongly predicted they could wait out the protesters, but he adds that a surging presence of activists on the streets shows that is not the case.
Thousands of state workers and impoverished Egyptians launched fresh strikes and protests around the country on Wednesday over their economic woes.
The protests continue despite warnings from Egyptian Vice President Omar Suleiman that they will not be tolerated much longer.
