A US Embassy worker along with another man stationed in Dhaka, Bangladesh was killed Monday evening, a Facebook statement published by the mission said."We abhor this senseless act of violence and urge the Government of Bangladesh in the strongest terms to apprehend the criminals behind these murders," US Ambassador to Bangladesh Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat said in a statement.Xulhaz Mannan was killed inside his Dhaka apartment after five or six men posing as couriers entered his building, according to CNN.Mannan as well as the other man were then hacked to death with machetes, CNN added.It remains unclear why Mannan was targeted by the group, but several reports from local media outlets said that Mannan was the editor of a Dhaka-based LGBT magazine.
