US House Committee on Foreign Affairs Chairman Howard Berman announced Thursday he would be marking up Iran sanctions legislation in two weeks, a second sign this week that Congress is losing patience with Iran and wants to see strengthened pressure on the regime.
Berman's bill would attempt to stop Iranian refined petroleum imports, as does a similar bill in the Senate. Moving on the bill now puts the final legislation on a course to pass over the winter.
