US House of Representatives passes US-Jordan Defense Cooperation Act

The US House of Representatives passed the US-Jordan Defense Cooperation Act of 2015 on Tuesday.

The legislation is designed to "streamline and expedite the consideration of US defense articles and services to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan," according to a statement released by the Jordan Information Bureau.

"Jordan is sincerely grateful to the members of the House of Representatives for supporting this critical piece of legislation, which comes at a time when Jordan and the US are engaged in heightened cooperation particularly in the area of combatting terrorism in all its forms," the statement from the Information Bureau read.

"The passage of this bill reflects the depth of the strategic relationship that both countries have shared for over six decades," the statement continued.
