US offers condolences, help to Iran after earthquake

The United States on Tuesday sent condolences and offered assistance to Iran after an earthquake hit the southeastern part of the country, reported Reuters.
There were no initial reports of casualties from the projected 6.5-magnitude earthquake in Kerman province.
"The United States is saddened by the loss of life in Monday's earthquake in Kerman, Iran," White House National Security Council spokesman Mike Hammer was quoted as saying by Reuters.
"The people of Kerman have suffered a great deal as a result of this natural disaster. We offer our condolences to the victims and their loved ones and are prepared to offer assistance to those in need during this difficult time," Hammer said.
