US ready to deploy advisers to bolster Iraq's battle for Ramadi

WASHINGTON - The United States is prepared to deploy advisers and attack helicopters to help Iraq retake the city of Ramadi from Islamic State, US Defense Secretary Ash Carter said on Wednesday, signaling another possible intensification of US involvement.
"The United States is prepared to assist the Iraqi Army with additional unique capabilities to help them finish the job (of retaking Ramadi), including attack helicopters and accompanying advisers, if circumstances dictate and if requested by Prime Minister (Haider al) Abadi," Carter told a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee.
