US sentences Russian Taliban fighter to life in prison

Irek Hamidullin, a former Russian army officer who was convicted in August of conducting a 2009 attack on US and Afghan soldiers, was sentenced in federal court in Richmond, Virginia, on Thursday to life in prison, the US Justice Department said.Hamidullin, 55, was the first enemy combatant from Afghanistan to be found guilty in a US federal court of charges related to helping Taliban fighters.Suspect in Israel embassy aides shooting charged first degree murder
