US spokeswoman rebukes accusations over Indyk's role in peace talks

The US State Department on Thursday responded to a Palestinian official accusation earlier in the day that Israel was keeping Ambassador Martin Indyk out of discussions, saying that the US special envoy is there "to play a facilitator role."
Speaking to the press, Jen Psaki stated: "[Indyk's] goal is not to check the box of every meeting he can attend. He wants to see a positive end result, and that’s up to the two parties to determine."
Upon further investigation from the press, Psaki added Indyk was to be "focused on... continuing with the discussion of final status issues," stating that the US is "encouraged" by the continued bilateral talks.
