U.S. State Department condemns the Assad regime for 'cruel actions'

The US Department of State released an official statement condemning the regime of Bashar Assad for the arrest, murder and torture of thousands of Syrian civilians."The regime has systematically arrested, tortured, and murdered tens of thousands of Syrian civilians in response to their legitimate and nonviolent calls for their freedom, rights, and political reforms," read the official statement from the US Department of State.The statement condemned the Assad regime for more than 117,000 Syrians who "forcibly disappeared" according to reports from various human rights organizations.The US Department of State reaffirmed the commitment of the United States to "work with the international community to investigate and shed light on these nefarious activities and work to hold those responsible and accountable."
