US State Secretary Mike Pompeo: Iranian govt fears its own citizens

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized the Iranian government on Twitter on Friday, saying that  "1,500 victims [were] slaughtered by [Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei] during [the] Iran protests."

Pointing to Iran shutting down the internet, he argued that "the regime fears its own citizens, and has once again resorted to violence."
"The Iranian people gave the right to mourn," he said.
