U.S. threatens with sanctions to those who deal with Iran

The United States on Friday warned that any organization or individual with ties to Iran's weapons and research unit will be considered "radioactive" and open to US sanctions.

The US Treasury earlier imposed sanctions against 14 individuals and 17 entities related to Iran's Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND), which it said played a key role in Tehran's nuclear weapons efforts.

"With this action ... we are making them radioactive internationally," a senior administration official said. "Anyone who continues to associate with SPND, or these individuals, risks professional, personal and financial international isolation," the official told a conference call.
