USGS: Magnitude 6.3 quake strikes off Japan

WASHINGTON - A magnitude 6.3 quake struck off the eastern coast of Japan's main island of Honshu less than a day after a strong quake in the same place triggered a tsunami warning, the US Geological Survey reported on Wednesday.
THE USGS said the quake, centered 126 miles (203 km) east of the city of Sendai, struck at 4:44 a.m. on Thursday (1844 GMT on Wednesday).
The quake was very shallow, only 1.2 miles (2.2 km) deep, and was in the same area as a magnitude 7.2 that triggered a tsunami advisory on Tuesday but caused no damage or injuries.
