Vandals desecrate Christian cemetery in West Bank

Palestinian Authority security officials on Sunday said vandals have desecrated about 60 graves in a Christian cemetery in a West Bank village. Police spokesman Adnan Damiri said there was no claim of responsibility for the destruction Sunday. The vandalized cemetery is in the predominantly Christian village of Jiffna, northeast of the West Bank town of Ramallah. Church official George Abdo said the vandals also cut electrical wires and broke a window in a nearby church. Christians are a tiny minority in the overwhelmingly Muslim West Bank, but relations between the two groups are generally good.
