Water Authority: Israel in 8th straight drought year

The Water Authority announced Monday that for the eighth consecutive year, Israel is experiencing a drought, officially classified as "arid." According to data released Monday, the start of this winter's rainy season provided only 72 percent of the multi-year average rainfall, Israel Radio reported.
The country's water reserves, the report said, stand at roughly two billion cubic meters.
