Welfare Minister announces 83 new senior citizen enrichment centers

As part of his process to improve quality of life for senior citizens in Israel, Welfare and Social Services Minister Haim Katz announced the opening of 83 new "mofet" senior citizen enrichment centers on Tuesday.
Currently, 164 of these enrichment centers operate across the country, catering to some 5,000 senior citizens who receive counseling with regards to their government benefits and rights, warm meals, and social and cultural activities.
"Caring for the elderly in situations of poverty will receive particular emphasis from the welfare ministry," said Katz. "These centers provide a response to poverty for these elderly, a response to poor nutrition, to loneliness and neglect, and we will continue to work towards improving their lives and helping them live with dignity."
