West Virginians elect first Republican since 1956 to US Senate

US Representative Shelley Moore Capito beat her Democratic opponent Natalie Tennant on Tuesday’s mid-term election in West Virginia, becoming the first women to be elected to the Senate by the state.
Capito is the first Republican to represent West Virginia in the Senate since the 1950s.
