With 85% of voting tallied, Hollande leads Sarkozy by 1%

PARIS - Far-rightist Marine Le Pen threw France's presidential race wide open on Sunday by scoring over 18 percent in the first round - votes that may determine the outcome of the May 6 runoff between Socialist favorite Francois Hollande and conservative President Nicolas Sarkozy.
Based on 85% of the polling results, the Socialist Party's Francois Hollande is leading with 28.2%, followed closely by the Union for a Popular Movement's Nicolas Sarkozy with 27%.
 Marine Le Pen of the National Front won 18.6%.
