Wounded veterans to get discounted electric, water rates

Injured IDF veterans and terror victims will be eligible for electricity discounts of more than 50 percent, Finance Minister Yair Lapid and National Infrastructure, Energy and Water Minister Silvan Shalom announced on Wednesday.
These two groups join nine other existing eligible populations – including income support recipients, pensioners, needy Holocaust survivors, caregivers and lone soldiers, among others – in receiving the discounts on electricity bills of up to 400 kilowatt-hours of consumption, the ministries said. The benefit is expected to save those eligible about NIS 1,500 annually, beginning in 2015.
"These people, who paid with their bodies, deserve to be included in this discount group," Shalom said. "We will continue to work for all citizens, to lower the cost of living."
Lapid added that providing the disabled IDF veterans and victims of terror such discounts "is a small step that will help ease the lives of those injured while protecting the security of the State of Israel."
