Ya'alon: Galant will not be the next IDF chief of staff

Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon said Tuesday that former OC Southern Command Maj.-Gen. (res.) Yoav Galant will not be the IDF['s next chief of staff.
"The replacement for the chief of staff will come from within the active ranks of the IDF, from the senior officers who are currently serving," he told reporters.
Galant was the leading candidate to replace former IDF chief of staff Lt.-Gen. (res,) Gabi Ashkenazi in 2010, but his candidacy was pulled in light of questionable land dealings he took part in.
