Ya'alon meets Canadian army chief, warns of Iran threat

Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon met with Canadian Chief of the Defense Staff Gen. Thomas Lawson on Wednesday, touting the strong relations between the countries and warning against the Iranian threat.
"Israel and Canada share a solid relationship based on shared values and interests," Ya'alon stated during the meeting. "Canada, under the leadership of Prime Minister Stephen Harper is a true friend of Israel and serves as an example of a country which leads its policy based on moral clarity and principles."
Ya'alon stated that Canada and Israel must further increase their cooperation in the fight against terror in light of the upheaval in the Middle East and Iran's role in fueling the region's conflicts.
The defense minister stated that Iran's nuclear program must be stopped, adding that "economic sanctions are not stopping the centrifuges and a credible military option is needed with a willingness to carry it out, even if as a last resort."
