Yachimovich: PM avoiding areas of gov't accountability

Not Ahmadinejad, nor Nasrallah or Mashaal vote in the elections, but the citizens of Israel do, Labor leader Shelly Yachimovich stated Saturday in response to comments made by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu a day earlier.
"Do you know who will be paying attention to the election results?," Netanyahu has asked, "[Iranian President Mahmoud] Ahmadinejad, [Hezbollah leader Hassan] Nasrallah, [and Hamas chief Khaled] Mashaal, they'll wait for polls to close and for results to be publicized. And they'll want to know if the prime minister was strengthened or weakened."
Speaking at a weekly cultural event in Holon, Yachimovich said that this was "an unprecedented situation in which the prime minister does not even try, on the eve of elections, to say what he will do or what his vision is, but uses unfounded fear to divert the public debate to areas in which he does not have to be accountable to the public."
