Yad Vashem to haredi extremists: Stop disrespecting Shoah

Yad Vashem Holocaust museum on Sunday denounced haredi (ultr-Orthodox) protesters who used symbols from the Holocaust during a protest against the government Saturday evening.
Yad Vashem Chairman Avner Shalev said the ultra-Orthodox demonstrators who wore yellow Stars of David and posed for photos in a way evoking a famous picture of a Jewish child in Warsaw Ghetto were a disgrace.
"There's no room for such shameful behavior," said Yad Vashem Chairman Avner Shalev. "It hurts Holocaust survivors and disrespects the memory of the Holocaust." He called on haredi leaders to act against those who abused the memory of six million Jewish victims in the Nazis.
