Yemen air force kills 20 Qaida-linked militants in south

ADEN - Yemen's air force killed 20 al-Qaida-linked fighters at a base in the restive southern town of Jaar, residents told Reuters on Saturday.
Jaar is the second largest town in Abyan province and was seized by militants in March last year as protests against former President Ali Abdullah Saleh paralyzed the country.
Last week, the fighters seized the military base from the government and confiscated weapons and military equipment.
On Monday, newly elected President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi vowed to pursue militants linked to al-Qaida to their last hiding place.
Late on Friday air strikes killed at least 17 suspected al-Qaida-linked militants in Bayda, 267 km southeast of the capital Sanaa.
