Yesha Council attacks Clinton's timetable for direct talks

The Yesha Council of Jewish Communities in Judea and Samaria criticized Sunday US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton's announcement at the end of last week that Israel and the Palestinian Authority would return to direct talks on September 2, saying such statements "create unrealistic expectations that will lead to violence instead of peace."
"If history is any indicator then this announcement will invite further instability to the region. Both the goal and the are unrealistic. Thus, frustration is inevitable and with it comes the potential for widespread violence and loss of life on all sides," said council chairman Danny Dayan.
Dayan also called upon Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to fulfill government promises that construction in settlement areas would resume on September 26.
"The people of Israel fully expect their leaders to abide by their statements," said Dayan.
