Yigal Amir asks to be moved from solitary confinement

Yigal Amir, serving jail time for murdering former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, asked the court on Tuesday to be moved from his cell where he is held solitary to the religion section of the Ayalon Prison. Since assassinating Rabin, Amir has been jailed in isolation; his solitary confinement was due to end on July 9, but the state asked for it to be extended since Amir was proselytizing his extreme right wing theories to other inmates. The Nazareth District Court is due to make a decision on Amir's request before Rosh Hashana.
