Shas party leader Eli Yishai requested from Defense Minister Ehud Barak to approve in writing the construction of thousands of housing units in Orthodox cities in the West Bank, after a proposed 90-day building freeze ends.Among the communities that the interior minister mentioned are: Beitar Illit, Modi'in Illit and Maale Adumim. According to Shas sources, the reason behind Yishai's demand is the party's distrust in US government assurances.
