Zambia opens embassy in Tel Aviv

Zambia@@@s foreign Minister Harry Kalaba re-opened the country@@@s embassy in Israel this week, some 42 years after it closed it doors when a number of African countries severed diplomatic ties with Larisa following the Yom Kippur War.
Zambia is the third African country to open an embassy in Israel this year, following South Sudan and Rwanda. Some 11 African countries have embassies here. Israel is represented in Zambia by a non-resident ambassador. The two countries re-established full diplomatic relations in 1997.
Kalabar said at the ceremony marking the opening of the embassy that his country expects “cooperation and the strengthening of ties” over a wide range of fields, including economic, security,agriculture, and tourism.
“We view Israel as a true friend in the Middle East and we have a great deal of knowledge to share on a wide range of issues,” he said.
