Israel's KipaBots takes second place at international Lego tournament in South Africa

Team of high school students from Modi'in wins first place in category of research and contribution to society.

Thirteen boys from the AMIT boys high school in Modi'in won first place in the research and contribution to society category at the First Lego League tournament held in South Africa last week.
The group, named the KipaBots, took second place in the overall ranking, out of a global tournament of 44 teams from 23 countries. As part of the competition, the KipaBots designed a futuristic classroom suitable for learning with the use of new technology. The classroom they designed will be built next year in their own school.
The group of high school students was invited to a reception with the Jewish community of South Africa, including the Chief Rabbi of South Africa.
Rabbi Itamar Haikin, principal of AMIT Modi'in, says the school is teaching robotics "to train a generation of young scientists that will lead the country and the economy to development and excellence."
