The Knesset plenum on Wednesday approved a law proposed by MK Ahmed Tibi, which will obligate all airlines with flights leaving from Israel to compensate passengers for delays and cancellations. According to the law which was passed in a preliminary hearing the amount for compensation will be set according to the distance to the destination, for example a delayed flight to Turkey or Greece would incur NIS 1,250, whereas for a delayed flight to the US, each passenger would receive NIS 3,500.
