The Israel Museum in Jerusalem received a $12 million gift from the Edmond J. Safra Philanthropic Foundation in order to renovate its Edmond and Lily Safra Fine Arts Wing. The gift is the latest in the museum's attempts to raise $100 million to upgrade its 20-acre campus. The museum hopes to renovate and construct its galleries and public facilities in time for a reopening in May 2010.
