Internationally acclaimed film-maker Willy Lindwer will present his Emmy award winning documentary, "The Last Seven Months of Anne Frank," and will discuss what happened to the famous young Jewish diarist and her family in an ICVC Jewish Resource Video Center sponsored program at the Israel Center.

Monday, July 17 Dr. David Luchins, who was a special assistant to the late Senator Patrick Moynihan, will discuss whether American Jews should be taking sides on realignment and other Israeli issues at a lecture evening at the Israel Center, 22 Keren Hayesod Street, Jerusalem. The film includes testimony from seven women who survived the hell from which Anne Frank did not return. Wednesday, July 19 A two-day seminar will be held to mark the 60th anniversary of the bombing of the King David Hotel, Jerusalem, by members of the United Resistance Movement (Haganah and Irgun). The King David Hotel was at the time the military headquarters of the British Mandatory Authority. The seminar, which will be held by the Begin Heritage Center in conjunction with the University of Haifa and the Irgun Veterans Association, will be addressed by: MK Binyamin Netanyahu, Shraga Ellis, David Ohana, Ya'acov Makovitzki, Prof. Arieh Naor, Shaul Avishai, Herzl Makov, Eldar Harovi of the Palmach Archives, Yossi Kister of the Irgun Museum, Udi Laval of the Ben-Gurion Institute, Michal Dohen of Bar Ilan University, Moti Golani of the University of Haifa and others. In recent times, it is not unusual that military regimes establish headquarters in popular hotels or other civilian institutions, but in 1946 it was an exceptional instance. Among the seminar participants will be persons who had a role one way or another in the operation, which was one of the decisive events compelling the British to give up the Mandate over Palestine and leave the country. Tuesday, July 25 The Israel Palestine Center for Research and Information in cooperation with Bringing Peace Together is sponsoring a lecture by Dr. Mustafa Abu Sway, Professor of Philosophy and Islamic Studies at Al-Quds University who will speak on The Concept of Hudna (Truce) in Islamic Sources. The lecture will be held at the Ambassador Hotel, east Jerusalem at 5 p.m. Findings from Jewish genetic genealogy will be presented by Rabbi Yaakov Kleiman in a powerpoint presentation under the title "Sons of Aharon - It's in the DNA." Kleiman, who is the Director of the Center for Kohanim in Jerusalem's old city, specializes in the study of genetic links to the ancient Hebrews. His presentation will be made at 8 p.m. at the Israel center, 22 Keren Hayesod Street, Jerusalem. Thursday, July 27 Professor Mustafa Abu Sway will provide insights into the role of Women in Islam, which he says is one of the most important, misunderstood issues today in Islamic communities. His lecture will begin at 5 p.m at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute, 43 Jabotinsky Street, Jerusalem. Sunday, July 30 The City of David Institute for Jerusalem Studies is basing its four-day City of David Seminar from Sunday July 30 to Wednesday August 2 at the Begin Center, 6 Nahon Street, Jerusalem. Each day begins with a lecture program at the center, followed by light refreshments and a daily tour. At the end of the day, the participants return to the Begin Center. The tours and lectures will be conducted in English by prominent scholars and researchers such as Prof. Ron Reich, University of Haifa; Dr. Gabi Barkay, Bar Ilan University; Dr. Eyal Meiron, Hebrew University; Dr. Dan Bahat, Bar Ilan University and others.
