Gabe Groisman, head of Groisman LLC and Conference Ambassador for this week’s Jerusalem Post Washington Conference, says that the question of bipartisan support for Israel is becoming increasingly difficult in the US. “Today’s Democratic Party has veered away from Israel. Admitting that is the first step to fixing it. The fix is simple. American politics is a free market: vote out those with repulsive views, then find and support those with views that you support. Of course, easier said than done, but the only option is to seriously and intentionally engage in the democratic process. The Republican Party is entirely supportive of Israel today. There are, however, growing anti-Israel and antisemitic voices in conservative media and social circles. We must put up a brick wall to keep those views from permeating government and the party.”
Speaking of models of engagement for Israel advocacy that have emerged since October 7, Groisman says, “Whether Jews in America like it or not, we are viewed as being intertwined with Israel. We are loyal and proud Americans with deep ties to our ancestral homeland, Israel. We cannot shy away from that fact. What happens in Israel impacts the way the world views Jews around the world. Everyone understands this since the October 7 war began. We cannot shy away from our responsibility and from our people.”
Groisman added that business initiatives can deepen US-Israel ties, saying that “The business ties between the US and Israel are tremendous, deep, and wide-ranging. Business partnerships are today’s political currency, which helps to solidify the relationship between the two nations. I am proud to work with many Israeli companies in the United States, particularly in the government sector. These types of partnerships ensure a bright future for the Western world.”
The Jerusalem Post Washington Conference will be led by Ronald S. Lauder, President of the World Jewish Congress. A staunch defender of Israel and a leading advocate for the global Jewish community, Lauder has accepted this role with a deep sense of mission and commitment to strengthen Israel’s standing on the international stage and to deepen the bond between the State of Israel and Jewish communities worldwide.
