Barkan Winery presents for 2023: the Seven Hills and PLATINUM series.

For the Jewish High Holidays, Barkan Winery is launching two unique red wines, each representing a different peak in the winery's work and the expression of local terroir.

PLATINUM Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 – The PLATINUM wine is created from a special edition of outstanding Cabernet Sauvignon barrels from the Alma, Dalton, and Yiftach vineyards in the Upper Galilee, carefully selected by the winemaker and the winery team.

The exceptional barrels were separated from the rest of the wine and continued aging for 18 months in oak barrels, producing a rich and powerful wine.

The wine is characterized by a deep red color, medium-full body, elegant tannins, and intense flavors of black fruits, sweet spices, herbs, and hints of licorice and dulce de leche.

It is suitable for immediate drinking but is expected to improve over the coming years.

Recommended retail price: 80 ILS.

Seven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon 2023

The Seven Hills series expresses the uniqueness of the Jerusalem Hills, with wines originating from select vineyards in the area.

The 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon was harvested from vineyards over 700 meters above sea level in the Judean Hills, characterized by a cool climate and significant day-night temperature differences.

The wine underwent controlled-temperature fermentation and aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, giving it depth and complexity.

It is characterized by a deep ruby color, aromas of black berries, ripe plum, and hints of vanilla, with soft tannins and an elegant finish.

It pairs especially well with rich meat dishes and aged cheeses.

Recommended retail price: 65 ILS.

Part of the wine underwent traditional fermentation with two yeast strains, part in whole clusters, and then aged for 14 months in used Burgundy barrels to maintain delicate complexity and balance.

Grenache 2022 offers an elegant and light taste, especially suitable for cold drinking during Israel's hot summer, reflecting the restrained and meditative style of the variety.

Recommended retail price: 129 ILS.
