After the JAC 7 Plug-in became the best-selling car in Israel this year, Calmobil is launching a hybrid version of the JAC 5, significantly cheaper. This creates a hybrid vehicle that offers low fuel consumption without the need to connect to charging stations.
The JAC 5 retains its Land Rover and Range Rover-inspired design, while the hybrid version joins the petrol and electric models already on the market, which compete in less popular categories.
Dimensions remain unchanged: 4.38 meters long, 1.86 meters wide, 1.65 meters high, with a 2.62-meter wheelbase. The trunk has a volume of 410 liters, and the tires are 18-inch in diameter.
First Encounter Behind the Wheel of the JAC 5 Hybrid
The JAC 5 receives the powertrain already sold in Israel in the Chery FX using the same platform: A 1,500 cc turbo petrol engine with 141 hp, an electric motor producing 201 hp, and a combined output of 228 hp. The drive is front-wheel.
The result: 0–100 km/h in 7.9 seconds, a top speed of 175 km/h, and an official fuel consumption of 19 km per liter.

The JAC 5 is larger than the Toyota Yaris Cross and Nissan Juke sold in its price range, similar to the MG ZS Hybrid, and significantly cheaper than the similarly sized Hyundai Kona, the leading hybrid seller. The Kona and Yaris Cross are among the three best-selling models in Israel this year, illustrating its potential market size.
