Egyptian media reports claimed that a global jihadi terrorist was killed in an air strike “launched by an Israeli drone” on Sunday, though the claims were later denied by Egypt.IDF sources told The Jerusalem Post they were unaware of the incident.According to the reports, Ibrahim Awiza Naser was riding a motorcycle some 15 kilometers from the border with Israel, when a fireball engulfed him, leaving a large blacked out crater in the desert.Hours after the first reports emerged, an Egyptian security source said the blast was likely caused by a rocket-propelled grenade, though no further details were available.Egyptian security sources later said Naser had been involved in an attack on Route 12 in 2011, in which eight Israelis were murdered by a terror cell that crossed into Israel from Sinai, Ma’ariv said. The reports also said Egyptian security forces arrested him last week as part of a wide counter-terrorism raid in Sinai, which was launched after jihadis murdered 16 Egyptian security personnel and tried to burst through the Israeli border with vehicles they hijacked from an Egyptian base.Israel has been urging Egypt in recent months to take control of the vast Sinai province and check the emerging terrorist groups in the area.
