A rocket was fired at the southern city of Eilat on Thursday evening and was successfully intercepted by the Iron Dome rocket defense system.
There was no damage or injury caused in the attack.  No organization has taken responsibility for the attack.
The rocket was most likely fired from the Sinai Peninsula, from where previous projectiles attacks on Eilat have been launched
Eilat was targeted in a rocket attack on July 15, when terrorists in Sinai fired two rockets at the Red Sea resort city, lightly wounding four residents and destroying vehicles.
Meanwhile, in tandem with Israel’s ongoing operations in Gaza, the Egyptian army continued its ongoing operations against terrorist elements in Sinai. The army killed three terrorists, injured two others, and arrested 16 on Wednesday night, the army spokesman announced on Facebook.
Earlier on Thursday, President Reuven Rivlin was sworn in as president and during the ceremony rocket alert sirens wailed in a number of areas in southern Israel.
