‘Post’ military reporter Yaakov Katz named adviser to Bennett

Veteran correspondent to serve in a senior capacity for economy and trade minister, including as a liaison to Diaspora communities.

The Jerusalem Post’s longtime military correspondent, Yaakov Katz, has accepted a position as a senior adviser to Economy and Trade Minister Naftali Bennett.
Katz, 34, recently returned to Israel following a year spent in the US as a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University.
He will serve in a senior capacity for Bennett, including as a liaison to Diaspora communities. (Bennett also holds the Diaspora Affairs portfolio in the government.)
“Yaakov proved himself to be one of the finest journalists in Israel, and I’m sure he’ll excel in this challenging position as well,” said Post editor-in-chief Steve Linde. “Widely respected as a writer and a public speaker, he moderated the second annual Jerusalem Post conference in New York in April, for which he received rave reviews.”
Katz began working at the Post in 2003 and during his tenure covered the Second Lebanon War, Operation Cast Lead and the disengagement from Gaza. He is co-author of Israel vs. Iran – The Shadow War, which was published in the US in 2012.
A resident of Jerusalem, Katz was born in Chicago and moved to Israel in 1993.
