The President of the European Council Donald Tusk is expected to deliver a comprehensive speech at the UN General Assembly in New York on Thursday.
According to a EU statement, EU's priorities are peace and conflict prevention, counterterrorism, improvement of humanitarian response, promotion and protection of human rights and to accelerate climate action to set in motion the Paris Agreement.
Iran is also expected to be one the main issues in the address, focusing both on the future of the 2015 Iranian nuclear deal and the impact of US sanctions on its economy.
EU High Representative Frederica Mogherini announced earlier this week after a meeting of EU member states that the European Union will set up a legal entity enabling legitimate financial transaction with Iran that would bypass US sanctions.
